Choosing a boxing head guard for training

A head guard should fit securely, allow clear vision, and suit the training you actually do. It is protective equipment, not a guarantee against injury.

Fit comes first

Check the manufacturer’s measurement guide and whether the adjustment points can be reached while wearing gloves. Excess movement, blocked vision, or pressure points are signs of a poor fit.

Compare coverage

Open-face designs improve visibility and airflow. Cheek and full-face designs provide more coverage but can feel warmer and restrict sight lines. Choose based on your coach’s advice and training format.

Inspect the listing

Look for material details, size charts, care instructions, seller information, and a clear return policy. Do not compare a genuine leather model with a synthetic model as if they were identical.
