COMPUTING
A buyer’s guide to monitors for work and play
Choose a monitor by the work it needs to do. A spreadsheet-focused display and a gaming display can have very different priorities.
Resolution and size
Higher resolution improves text and workspace, but operating-system scaling and graphics performance matter too. Check pixel density rather than assuming bigger is better.
Refresh rate and response
Gaming benefits from a higher refresh rate, while office work may benefit more from a comfortable panel, good text clarity, and an adjustable stand.
Ports and ergonomics
Confirm HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C, power delivery, height adjustment, and VESA support. These details can determine whether the display remains useful when your setup changes.
