PRICE LITERACY
How to compare the real final price online
The bold number on a product card is rarely the complete cost. A fair comparison uses the same exact product, destination and purchase conditions.
Use a five-part total
Record item price, shipping, taxes or fees, coupon savings and reliable cashback. If a discount appears before the cart, verify that it applies to the exact variant you want. Compare the payable amount, not the crossed-out list price.
Check like-for-like identity
A two-pack is not the same as a single item. Storage, colour, size, connection type, seller, warranty and import status can all change value. Save the model number, SKU or ASIN when available.
Separate guaranteed and conditional savings
A coupon that applies at checkout can reduce the purchase total. A bank offer requiring an unavailable card cannot. Cashback received later is not the same as a lower amount payable today.
Record the evidence
Note the source page, selected variant, displayed price, stock state and retrieval time. Prices can change between research and checkout. A trustworthy comparison tells you what was checked and when.
Bottom line
The best offer is the lowest trustworthy total for the exact product you want—not the lowest number in a search result.
